Don't forget campout is THIS weekend! We will be going to Lazy L& L Campgrounds in New Braunfels, TX. Saturday we will meet at noon at the Jack in the Box on Guad/26th, so we hope to leave by 12:15. Make sure you bring your own lunch like a sandwich from Subway etc. Dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning will be provided by the club, as well as some snacks and beverages. If you have food allergies or special diet restrictions, we need to know!

Please respond via the google doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsADjPVTdfMPdFJ5Y1ZjWGFJc0JCZVpnUDdybkl2X0E#gid=0 by WEDNESDAY night so we can have a final headcount for buying food and equipment. This is also how we will determine rides, etc. If you have any equipment like tents, chairs, coolers, lanterns/lights, sleeping bags, or outdoor games--please, please, please bring these. The more you bring, the more other fun stuff the club can provide.

In order to attend campout, you MUST have paid dues already. If you have not done this yet, please comment on the facebook page to get in touch with an officer. We are also trying out a new policy for campout....you may bring a friend to campout for $25. Again, we still need a final head-count by Wednesday night. The friend does need to be a UT student, and there is a limit of one friend per member.

Wednesday night is also the deadline to order a t-shirt. Order those here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Agsz94DyM8rxdFBadS1lLXVvTWpqQ0V6LW9WT1RWdmc#gid=0
The shirts will be dark green, short sleeved, and have a pocket. The front pocket has the club logo, and the back has an extended version of the club logo with a moose and the club slogan: Let's Pitch a Tent.

Questions? Get in touch with us, we want to help!
Get excited for spring campout!

Hello all!
The cookout was a big success, thanks to everyone who came out to Pease Park. The McKinney Roughs hike was beautiful, but attendance was a lot lower. If there is any way we can make this semester's schedule a better fit for your schedule and what you want to do, please let us know! This weekend there is a mini-golf event at Peter Pan's Putt Putt off of Barton Springs Rd., we hope to see more of you there. Parking is limited, so carpooling is highly encouraged. Don't forget to pay your dues at the first event you attend, or the next meeting on February 15th in the SSB room G1.310 at 8:00.

Hello all, and welcome back!
I hope your Spring semester is off to a great start and you're ready get involved again. As we discussed at the meeting last night, all information discussed at meeting will be posted on this blog site rather than e-mailed to all members. To stay updated with other important announcements and event reminders, please subscribe to this blog. You can also stay updated by following the club on Twitter @TX_Outdoorsmen and joining the Facebook group.

We began the first meeting of the semester by elaborating on the club purpose, explaining how to join, and recapping last semester's club events. If you are new to the club, all you have to do to join is pay dues ($50/semester or $90/year). Dues for this semester need to be turned in to Treasurer, Collin Hazlett, by the next meeting which will be February 15 at 8:00 in SSB room G1.310. If you are not sure if you paid dues for the full year, Collin can look it up for you. You can also turn in your dues at any of the upcoming events. You are not required to attend a certain number of events, but we try to plan as many events as feasible so members can attend when they're free and still get their money's worth.

That being said, we also addressed the attendance situation from last semester. Attendance was very high at the first 3-4 events, but very low the rest of the semester. There are currently 10 events planned for this semester, varying from major events like campout and paintball to low key hikes at nearby parks. If you would like fewer events, or less of a certain type of event--let us know! Our schedule can always changed, and the club events should reflect what members want to do. The full tentative calendar can be seen at the end of this post. Events not posted on the calendar will also come up throughout the semester, like the Kite Festival.

Campout is currently scheduled for the weekend of February 24-26. Possible campsites are Colorado Bend, Bastrop State Park, Pedernales Falls, Pace Bend, and Lazy L&L in New Braunfels. If you have a preference, knowledge about any of these sites, or other suggestions please comment.

This Sunday, January 29 there will be a BBQ Cookout with Volleyball and other games at Pease Park. Please see the facebook event for more details and to help coordinate rides. Also, please RSVP so we have the right amount of food. Feel free to bring friends to this event that may be interested in joining the club, this will serve as a recruitment event.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the meeting, and we look forward to more feedback and suggestions! Always feel free to comment on the Facebook page or Twitter if you're up for something and you'd like club company. Enjoy your weekend, hope to see you all on Sunday!
